The number of visits to Cambodia increases by 4.2 % in March

The statistics released by the tourist Information Department showed an increase of 4.2 % in the number of visits to Cambodia in March, 2015. The majority of the visits come from the China and the neighbour countries.

Cambodia welcomed 417,052 visits, which is higher than last year (400,076) during the same month. According to the data released by the Ministry of Tourism earlier this week, Vietnam led this field with a rise of 6% compared to the same month last year.

Laos (29,338; -14.6%), China (62,996; +25.8%); Thailand (27,142; +38.1%) and South Korea (37,222; +2.1%) were also in the top 5 leading market.

In March, there are 55% (229,357) of all international tourists travel by plane. Siem Reap Airport gained the larger share of 32.4% (134,933) and Phnom Penh Airport received a share of 22.6%.

Siem Reap – the home of Angkor Wat accounted for 46.1% (224,799visits) in tourist arrivals while other destinations and Phnom Penh gained the share of 39.4% (192,253visits). Ecotourism took up 1.3% (6,439 visits) and the share of Coastal areas was 13.2% with 64,195 visits.
